Meet Tonia

I didn’t start knitting until I was 40 years old. It began as a way to connect with my sister-in-law, who loves to knit. What I didn’t realize as she was teaching me to knit that first dishcloth was how much I would adore knitting – the feelings of accomplishment and pride I would feel when I completed those first few projects. I loved knitting so much that I started carrying a small project in my purse so I could knit during those spare moments when I was out and about.

But my knitting wasn’t without its struggles – dishcloths that weren’t quite square, slippers that were too tight, hats that were too small, and socks that didn’t fit properly. While a few projects came out well, many more ended up getting ripped out or tossed aside. I was discouraged that I couldn’t seem to create the beautiful, well-fitting pieces I saw others creating.

I realized if I wanted to create garments that were beautiful and fit well that I would need to do some research, so I started collecting books, watching YouTube videos, and taking online and in-person classes – all in an effort to improve my knitting. And the work paid off in spades. The first sweater I knit actually fit and looked really nice! I gained confidence and started tackling more difficult projects and even designed a few projects of my own. All of these things helped me improve my knitting and gave me the skills I needed to become a confident and adventurous knitter.

Let me show you how you can do the same. It’s possible to enjoy the knitting process and create beautiful, well-fitting garments. Believe me, nothing will give you a greater sense of accomplishment than a stranger complimenting your sweater or shawl and replying, “Thanks! I made it myself.”
